âI was trying to make you mad.â
Leah jerked. âWhat?â
Henryâs lips shifted into a gentle smile. âWhile you were angry, you forgot about the storm.â
Her anger left as quickly as it had come. âYou knew I was terrified.â
âJa.â
She blushed. âI didnât want you to see.â
The good humor left his expression. âI understand.â
Leah stared at him and wondered if he did understand, but she didnât want to discuss her fear anymore, and she prayed and hoped that he would keep her weakness to himself. âYou wonât tell anyone?â
He appeared confused. âAboutââ
âThat Iâm a coward and deathly afraid of thunderstorms.â
His eyes widened. âYouâre no coward, Leah. A coward wouldnât have run out into the storm to see her horse to safety.â
Leah blinked, pleased by his words.
âIâll not say a word about today, Leah.â Henry looked sad, and Leah struggled with the urge to do something to make his sadness go away. âNo one will know that you spend any time here with me in the store. Your secret is safe.â
Dear Reader,
I hope youâve enjoyed visiting the Amish village of Happiness in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I love writing about all of the wonderful people who live there. In Her Forgiving Amish Heart, Leah Stoltzfus meets up again with Henry Yoder, her cousinâs best friend. Henry got into a bit of trouble when he and Isaac were younger and on rumspringa, and he unintentionally hurt Isaac and others within his Amish community.
Leah never thought sheâd marry. Sheâd never had a sweetheart or any manâs attention. Sheâd resigned herself to the fact that sheâd only have her craft shop in her future...until Henry shows her the possibilities of what it could be like to have more...
If you enjoyed Her Forgiving Amish Heart, you may want to try A Secret Amish Love, Leahâs sister Nellâs story, and Her Amish Christmas Sweetheart, about Leah and Nellâs sister Meg, the middle daughter of Arlin and Missy Stoltzfus.
I hope you will continue to join me as I return time and again to Happiness where the Amish love, learn and raise children while being faithful to the Lord.
