Five minutes and counting...
And then the bombs would explode the vessel.
They couldnât swim away fast enough or far enough, but maybe they could dive and be safe beneath the surface.
Fear rushed through Kirk, and fire surged through his legs as he ran to Coraâs cabin. She might be asleep, recovering from her earlier fight with death.
He burst through the door. âWe have less than four minutes to gear up in scuba and get off this ship. Or weâre going to die.â He ushered her into the hallway.
She stopped. âWhat about the others?â
âI canât save them. But I can save you.â Maybe. âNow get geared up. We might already be too late.â
Dive suits. Mask, regulator, tanks, flippers. He worked as fast as he could.
Before they could hit the water, the crack of an explosion resounded and the deck shifted beneath them.
Dear Reader,
Thank you so much for reading Distress Signal. I hope you enjoyed the story! Now that Iâve written the novel, I can look back and see what it was aboutâor, at least, that it reflects whatâs happening in my own life. Thatâs why I hope you connected with the story and Cora. She had a plan for her life, a dreamâand that dream came true. She was living the dream, but others interfered with that dream and destroyed the plan. Has that ever happened to you? Basically, life will often throw us curveballs, or as Iâve said recently regarding my own lifeâa plot twist. So everything is turned on its head and twisted around.
All I know is that no matter what, God is my rock and I trust in Him through it all. Remember that âA manâs heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his stepsâ (Proverbs 16:9). So we might have made plans, but if we trust in the Lord, Heâll make a way for us.
I love to hear from my readers. If youâd like to connect with me, you can find out more at my website: ElizabethGoddard.com.
