Little Girls
О книге

Ever since the ancient Greeks sculpted the first kouros, children have been a source of inspiration for some of the world's greatest artists.

Whether portraits of their own children, friends, and family members, or a nostalgic psychological portrayal of the artist's own youth, depictions of children in art remain arresting examples of an intersection between the picturesque innocence of childhood and the methodical work of adult artistry.

In this delightful new puzzle book, children get a chance to see little boys and girls just like them as portrayed by great artists, learning about how children grew up throughout history while experiencing a genuine connection with works of artistic genius.

Double Portrait of Children by Paul Gauguin

This very colourful picture shows two little girls, probably sisters. They sit in front of a yellow wall with a red flower pattern. In front is the elder sister on a chair, while behind her the little sister is sitting playing. Can you see what she is holding? They are both wearing blue dresses and the younger girl seems to have a bonnet.

Gauguin was a French artist. On Tahiti, which is in the Pacific Ocean, he lived a simple life with the local people.

Children Playing on the Beach by Mary Cassatt

This picture shows two little girls playing on the beach. They want to build a sandcastle and so they are putting a lot of sand in their buckets. In the background you can see the sea. Which beach do you think the girls are on? One girl protects herself from the sun with a pretty hat with a red bow. Do you want to spend a day at the beach again soon?
