She stumbled onto a smuggling ringâ
and had nowhere to run
When two thieves arrive at the Montana mansion where Isabel Connor is working, undercover investigator Jason Enger isnât sure if sheâs in dangerâ¦or an accomplice. Either way, with a snowstorm trapping the pair with the violent thieves, survival depends on working together. But how can they trust each other when heâs concealing his identityâ¦and sheâs hiding dark secrets of her criminal past?
Ever since she found the Nancy Drew books with the pink covers in her country school library, SHARON DUNN has loved mystery and suspense. Most of her books take place in Montana, where she lives with three nearly grown children and a spastic border collie. She lost her beloved husband of twenty-seven years to cancer in 2014. When she isnât writing, she loves to hike surrounded by Godâs beauty.

âWhat are you doing up here anyway?â
Isabel turned, her expression filled with challenge.
If they were going to get out of this mess, Jason needed her to trust him. âIâm with the lawâthatâs all you need to know.â
She bent forward with her arms folded over her chest. âHe thinks weâre partners.â
âWhat?â
She stopped and stared at the sky. âWhen he held that knife to my throat, he accused us of working together to steal his fortune.â
âReally?â Maybe he could still salvage this investigation. As long as the thief didnât think he was connected to law enforcement. âIâm sorry about the knife.â
She shrugged. âIt wasnât you that did it.â She did a double take as though she were trying to ferret out some hidden motive in him or see beneath his skin.
She still didnât trust him.
Isabel stared up at the house, her voice filled with worry. âMaybe heâll just go away.â
Jason doubted that.
Dear Reader,
I hope you enjoyed the dangerous and romantic adventure that Jason and Isabel went on to see to it that justice was served. Isabel is probably one of my favorite characters so far. She comes from a difficult childhood and made some destructive choices as a teenager. Yet her faith shines like the morning sun. I love the way Isabel clings to God and His unconditional love no matter what. All of us have done and said things that we deeply regret. Like Isabel, it is easy for me to feel shame over past choices. I have to be so careful that I do not fixate on those past choices because they will consume me. To me the remedy is to keep my eyes in the right place, on God and His faithfulness. This is a moment-by-moment choice sometimes. When Isabel starts to beat herself up in her head, she prays, hums a hymn or says a Bible verse. All of these things help me too. May your faith shine like the morning sun and may you rest your gaze on what matters most.
